Vale Gough Whitlam – Australia’s greatest Prime Minister (1972-1975, Labor).

A man who made Australia a much better and fairer place within just a few short years in office. Think universal health care, free university education, indigenous land rights, the protection the Great Barrier Reef, ratified the World Heritage Convention and truely supported the arts, among many, many other things.

It’s a very sad day for the nation.

“Maintain the rage and enthusiasm” – Gough Whitlam (1916-2014)
